I created this fan art of the character Layla based on my friend Natalia Dias (nataliadsw)'s concept. It was a long journey, but I can say I gained a lot of experience in creating stylized characters. I basically sculpted the character in ZBrush, did the retopology in Maya, and set up her rig both for posing and for gameplay. Then, I textured her in Substance Painter and created advanced materials in Unreal, using instances, masks to restrict areas of material effects like iridescence, viewport-based panner, and HLSL for map range creation, among others.
Additionally, I configured her physics asset and set up her animation blueprint and character blueprint, as well as retargeted the character for GASP.
Finally, I created the scene with the posed character, developed the icy ground, created the VFX, and customized the sky using Unreal's default sky as a base. I did all the post-processing adjustments and camera capture following the tips from my friend Jair de Oliveira.
